Citizen’s Circle

This past Saturday Night, the kids and I went to the celebration of the opening of our new community space, Citizen’s Circle.  Not really sure what to expect, we were surprised that it was a whole street fair, with bands, artists, as well as food and drink vendors.  Walking around taking pictures I was struck by how much I really love this community.  Everyone was so pleasant and really enjoying the celebration, made all the more spectacular by the beautiful weather.  The rains on and off all day made everyone a little nervous, but by the time we got there, the sun was shining and there was a nice breeze to cool things down.

The music was terrific!  Starting out with The Doug Adams Band, doing covers of everything from Michael Jackson to Blood, Sweat, and Tears, they really got the crowd going and were a lot of fun!  Next up was a singer/songwriter from Orlando, Heather Friedman accompanied by Keven Stever on stand up base and accordion, they had a great, original sound.  The headliners were an A Capella band with some local roots, called Edge Effect and they were unbelievably good!  I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot from them soon!  The show ended with fireworks which is always fun!

I really thought we’d have a hard time leaving with everyone departing at the same time, but it was quite simple which really surprised me because there was such a nice turnout.  It was yet another terrific evening downtown.

What a gorgeous space!  It’s so well thought out and there’s a terrific splash park for the kids as well as plenty of space for picnics, blankets, chairs, and even walls and benches to sit on.
